David Kartchner, PhD, is CTO of Flax Health, a company using AI to extract critical insights in patients’ post-acute care—optimizing placement, improving outcomes, and streamlining operations. Formerly at Truveta, he built large language models spanning data from 33 health systems (120M+ patients). His healthcare career began at Intermountain Healthcare, developing predictive models for critical events like renal failure and heart attacks. He has created AI solutions for drug discovery and previously founded a startup to dispute medical billing errors. David earned his PhD in Computational Science and Engineering from Georgia Tech. He enjoys reading, hiking, and time with his three kids.
