This 3-hour pre-conference workshop will be divided into two portions, one hour of case-based education followed by two hours of hands-on skills training.
Part 1 will be a case study-based presentation focusing on the main types of wounds commonly seen in the post-acute setting: pressure injuries, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, neuropathic ulcers, surgical dehiscence, and atypical wounds. Learners will be introduced to the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of the wounds listed above.
Part 2 will focus on five skills that will enable the learner to be successful in achieving proper evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of select wound etiologies. Each learner will rotate through all four stations spending about 15 minutes at each. The four stations will include: 1. Compression wraps of the lower extremity, 2. Evaluation and measurement techniques for wounds, 3. Negative pressure wound therapy application, 4. Skin Substitutes, and 5. Wound Biopsy (these may alter slightly depending on final presentation).
LIMITED SEATING IS AVAILABLE FOR THIS WORKSHOP
