Kenya Rivas, MD, FAAFP, CMD is an Assistant Team Lead Medical Director for Home & Community Care Transitions at OPTUM. She is responsible for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Management of the Geriatric members and for creating educational content in Geriatrics as she serves as a Vice Chair for the Education Committee. She works collaboratively with different groups across the state to improve the quality of life of the Geriatric population. Dr. Rivas completed her Family Medicine Residency and the Geriatric Fellowship program at AdventHealth, Orlando, Florida in 2009, joining the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine after completing her Fellowship program. During her tenure at the University setting, she served as an Assistant Professor in Geriatrics and then she was promoted to be the Vice Chair of the Geriatrics Department. Dr. Rivas has published in different peer reviewed journals like BMJ, AAFP and JAMDA and co authored a chapter in the Primary Care: Clinics in Office Practice, “Evaluation and Management of the Older Adult with Chronic Kidney Disease, 2014 Edition. Dr Rivas is an active member of the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed) where she serves as the Chair of the Workgroup for the Education Committe. Dr Rivas remains an active member for the Florida Medical Director Association, FMDA where she serves as the Secretary of the Treasury, and is the FMDA vicepresident elected for 2026.
